Marlene Johnson

Marlene Johnson (born January 11, 1946 in Braham , Minnesota ) is an American politician . Between 1983 and 1991 she was lieutenant governor of the state of Minnesota.

Career

After finishing school, Marlene Johnson worked in the private sector. She was the founder and from 1970 to 1982 CEO of the advertising and public relations company Split Infinitive . Politically, she joined the Democratic Party , which in her state of Minnesota calls the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party . In 1982 she was elected Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota at the side of Rudy Perpich . She held this office after a re-election between 1983 and 1991. She was Deputy Governor . In 1993 she failed in her party's primary election for the election of mayor of the city of Saint Paul .

Between 1994 and 1996, Johnson was employed by the Federal General Services Administration in Washington, DC . Then she served for a year as vice president of operating in the furniture sector company Rowe Furniture in McLean ( Virginia ). Since 1998 she has been chairman of the board of directors of NAFSA, Association of International Educators , which works to improve education worldwide. She lives in the federal capital Washington. Marlene Johnson is also a member of several political and economic advisory boards.
