Edward Dithmar

Edward Frederick Dithmar (born January 31, 1873 in Reedsburg , Sauk County , Wisconsin , †  September 22, 1938 in Baraboo , Wisconsin) was an American politician . Between 1915 and 1921 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Wisconsin.

Career

Edward Dithmar graduated from Reedsburg Area High School and then studied until 1894 at the University of Wisconsin in Madison . After a subsequent law degree and his admission to the bar in 1899, he began to work in this profession at Baraboo. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . For four years he was their district chairman in Sauk County. In 1910 he was Deputy Chairman of the State.

In 1914, Dithmar was elected lieutenant governor of Wisconsin alongside Emanuel L. Philipp . He held this office after two re-elections between 1915 and 1921. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . In 1925 he ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the US Senate ; In 1928 his candidacy for governor of Wisconsin failed. He died on September 22, 1938 in Baraboo, where he was also buried.
