Kasachok dancers

The Kasatschok ( Russian казачок Kasatschok = less Kosake or "Cossack dance" to казак Kašák = Kosake + -ок -ok = -chen / -lein, "Cossack lein "; Ukrainian козачок kosatschók , polish Kozak Kosak or kozaczek kosátschek ) is a dance of the Ukrainian / Russian military farmers in the east of today's Ukraine, known as Cossacks .

The dance in 2/4 time has a lot of improvisations. The melody is also very similar to the Russian folk songs Katyusha and Kalinka . The dancers usually appear in pairs, often in a kind of competition with almost artistic interludes. Typical for the dance are the arms crossed in front of the chest, the noisy clapping of the heels and the so-called prisjadka , the jump between straight and bent legs from a crouch.
