Katajaluoto ( Swedish : Stora Enskär ) is an island belonging to Finland in the Baltic Sea south of Helsinki in the Gulf of Finland .

The island belongs to the Aluemeri sub-area of the Ulkosaaret district of the Finnish capital Helsinki. Immediately west of Katajaluoto is the sea route to the port of Helsinki about five kilometers to the north. A little further to the southeast is the Pitkäkari archipelago , immediately to the north is the island of Satamakari .

The island stretches from northeast to southwest over 900 meters with a width of up to 200 meters. There is a boat launch at the northern end of the built-up island. In the middle of the rocky island there is a group of trees. Seamarks were installed at the north and south ends .

A coastal military fort was built on Katajaluoto at the beginning of the First World War . Even after that, the island's military use continued.
