Katapult was a C ++ based part of the K work environment up to version 3.5. The program allowed quick access to programs, favorites, etc. and could be expanded with any number of functions using plugins. The display was also plugin-based, so that extensive changes were possible here as well.

Under KDE4 it was largely replaced by KRunner.

use

After starting, the catapult window can be called up by pressing the ALT + spacebar keys at the same time . Immediately after pressing the key, the name of an installed application, a favorite or another object for which a corresponding catalog plug-in is installed is entered. By confirming with input , the displayed object is started or called.

By entering Kont, for example, the symbol of the KDE program Kontact appears in the catapult window . Another example is entering an arithmetic operation such as 2 ^ 100 , which returns computing the 100th power of 2.

To change the program settings, activate the catapult with ALT + space bar , press CTRL + C and select the entry " Set up catapult ..." . The setting options include the installation of further catalog plug-ins, as well as various keyboard shortcuts and display settings.
