Kathleen Van Brempt
Kathleen Van Brempt (born November 18, 1969 in Wilrijk ) is a Belgian politician ( sp.a ).
Life
Van Brempt studied sociology at the Catholic University in Leuven . She was a research assistant and later political secretary of the sp.a. In 2000 she moved to the European Parliament for Peter Bossu . She has also been a member of Antwerp City Council since 2000 . In 2003 she became State Secretary for Work Organization and Occupational Health. From 2004 to 2009 she was Flemish Minister of Transport in the Leterme I and Peeters I cabinets. In 2009 she moved back to the European Parliament.
Van Brempt has been married since 1993 and gave birth to their first child in 2007.

Van Brempt is in the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists & Democrats in the European Parliament.
She is a member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy and the delegation for relations with Iran . As a deputy in the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety and in the delegation for relations with the countries of South Asia. Since 2016 she has headed the EMIS committee investigating the emissions scandal .
