The Catholic Youth in the Diocese of Fulda (KJF) is a Roman Catholic youth association in the Diocese of Fulda . It was founded in 1988 by Archbishop Johannes Dyba to create a counterweight to the Federation of German Catholic Youth (BDKJ) and its member organizations.

organization

The KJF is recognized in the diocese of Fulda as a carrier of church youth work and supports youth work in the local parishes. The association works in addition to the BDKJ associations. In 2013 the KJF had around 550 members, while the diocesan association of the BDKJ reached around 6,800 children and young people.

history

The background to the foundation was the desire for a youth association led by the diocese, which is apolitical and clearly represents the Catholic beliefs - the BDKJ was felt by Dyba as too political and, in his opinion, deviated from the Catholic doctrine with some positions. The founding of the association, along with the cancellation of the grants for the BDKJ in 1989, was the highlight of this dispute. Despite intensive press coverage, the founding did not have the hoped-for nationwide signaling effect for the establishment of an alternative Catholic youth structure.

Board

The KJF is managed by a voluntary board that is elected every three years. The current board was elected in 2018. This consists of Felix Schnurr, Franziska Neidhardt and Anna-Lena Fuß. Elisa Schum sits on the advisory board. The board is supported by a speaker in the KJF diocesan office and spiritually accompanied by a priest as the KJF president. This office is held by Togar Pasaribu.
