Catholic People's Party (Austria)
The Catholic People's Party was a party in Austria-Hungary that emerged in 1895 from a split from the conservative Hohenwart Club . Party leaders were Alfred Ebenhoch and Josef von Dipauli .
The party, which represented ultra-montane and conservative positions, was not restricted to one nationality, which was unusual in the multi-ethnic state of Austria-Hungary. In the Catholic People's Party, Germans, Poles and Czechs of Catholic denomination ran for the Reichsrat election in 1897 . In the 1901 Reichsrat election she lost 4 of 27 seats. The Catholic People's Party merged with the former center to form the “Catholic Center” and in 1907 became part of the Christian Social Party .
