Katrin Habenschaden

Katrin Habenschaden (* 1977 in Nuremberg ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ). She has been the second mayor of Munich since 2020 .

Life

Habenschaden attended the Sigena grammar school in Nuremberg . Then she did a professional training as a bank clerk and a degree in business administration. In 2002 she moved to Munich. She moved from Sparkasse Nürnberg to Stadtsparkasse München. In 2009 she joined the Greens and was elected to the Munich City Council in May 2014 . Since May 2018 she has been the chairwoman of the city council group Die Grünen / Rosa Liste. In the Mayor election in Munich in 2020 , she was the green OB candidate. For her election campaign, Habenschaden took a year off from her employer. She received 20.8% of the vote and narrowly missed the runoff election. On May 4, 2020 she was sworn in as the second mayor of the Bavarian capital, Munich .

Habenschaden lives in Munich-Aubing , is married and has two children.
