Katsumi Yamamoto ( Japanese山 本 勝 巳, Yamamoto Katsumi ; born March 5, 1973 ) is a former Japanese automobile racing driver .

Katsumi Yamamoto drove kart races from 1989 to 1991 . From 1992 he drove in the Japanese Formula Junior 1600 series and in the German Formula BMW championship. In the 1993 season he drove the German Formula 3 championship (class B) and Formula 3 in Japan. After another year in Germany, he returned to Japan in 1995. He drove there in 1995 in Formula 3000 and has been involved in Formula Nippon since 1996 .
