As Katz castle the remains of about 1300 m (south) east of be Hassendorf (in the municipality Bosau in Ostholstein in Schleswig-Holstein lying) Slavic fortress called.

The castle had a diameter of approx. 100 meters and was built on a raised area protruding into a damp depression. The structure was protected by a surrounding wall - in the north and northwest a ditch separates the castle from the plateau, in the south a lower wall shields the castle from the lowland.

Based on the pottery shards and other ceramic finds and the layout of the castle, a Slavic ( Wendish ) castle from the 9th and 10th centuries can be assumed. A later use of the facility seems unlikely, as there are no such documentary mentions.

There was apparently no development in the inner area of the Katzburg - it is therefore assumed that it was a refuge .

The castle is accessible via a bridge crossing the old moat, the route is signposted.

The remains of the castle are under monument protection as a ground monument .
