Building description

Corner detail (2012)
North facade (2012)

The six-storey building is a steel frame construction and covers almost the entire rectangular property area. There is an atrium in the far corner of the property . At the corner of the street there is a semicircular oriel tower that protrudes over Ulica Oławska ( Ohlauer Straße ).

The facades are clad with travertine panels. The west facade of the building (on Ulica Szewska, formerly Schuhbrücke ) has horizontal ribbon windows. On the northern side, the ribbon windows end in the curve of the bay tower. The north facade has large individual windows with an even distribution over the entire facade surface. In the area of the rounding (bay tower) and the entire west facade, the ribbon windows are accentuated by a cornice . In the north facade, the sixth floor, with the exception of the protruding curve, is designed as a stacked floor . The staggered storey of the west facade begins on the fifth floor and is located in the rear two thirds of the facade.

The ground floor is glazed over the entire height (shop window). In the area of Ulica Szewska (Schuhbrücke), the glass front is set back by around 1.5 m (corresponding to the radius of the bay tower) in order to cover the central main entrance. In order to widen the street here, the building was also built about 3 meters behind the former building line. The older neighboring building Ulica Szewska 5 ( Schuhbrücke 5 ) was therefore given a passage ( colonnade ).
