The Kawall amazon ( Amazona kawalli ) is a species of parrot from the subfamily of the New World parrots . The basic color of the plumage of this Amazon species , which is 36 centimeters tall, is green, the feathers on the vertex, on the back of the head and on the sides of the neck are lined with black. Overall, the kawall's amazon is very similar to Mealy Parrot and was long considered their subspecies. The Kawall Amazon has only been recognized as an independent species since 1989 because it differs significantly from the Miller Amazon in some features. This includes, for example, a light skin fold at the base of the lower mandible. Kawall amazons are also smaller than miller's amazons.
The distribution area of the Kawall Amazons is the middle Amazon basin . They live here mainly in primeval forest areas near rivers and humid lowlands. Almost nothing is known about the way of life of the Kawall Amazons.
