The Kawari Kabuto is a helmet that Japanese samurai wear with their armor ( yoroi ).

description

The Kawari Kabuto is made of iron as well as various other materials such as paper mache ( Japanese Harinuke), leather and others. The helmet consists of a dome that is equipped with eye protection. On this basis, with the help of the materials mentioned, a helmet is built that is designed in the most varied of ways. A wide variety of animals, shells , objects, etc. serve as models. These helmets are very splendid and eye-catching with lacquer or with covers made of precious stones or gold plating . The helmets made in this way are among the most beautiful ones made in Japan. In contrast to the European grand helmets, these helmets are almost always suitable for combat, as the decorations are only a facade . The Kawari Kabuto are a sought-after collector's item and investment nowadays .
