Kathryn Ann "Kay" Lunda-Vandevrede (born April 28, 1957 in Madison , Wisconsin ) is a former American speed skater .

Lunda competed for the Madison Speed ​​Skating Club from her hometown while on her active treadmill . At the age of twelve she was already able to win a US outdoor championship in the all-around competition in her age group. A year later she took first place in the same discipline among the young people in the hall and second in the open air. In 1971 she also won the US championship outdoors.

1972 Lunda took part in the Olympic Winter Games in Sapporo , Japan and finished seventh over 500 m. The following year she competed at the Junior World Championships in Assen, the Netherlands . In the mini four-way fight over 500, 1000, 1500 and 3000 meters she was able to win the bronze medal, over the individual distances of 500 and 1000 m she achieved the silver medal. At the Sprint World Championships that took place in Oslo , Norway that same year , she finished in tenth place.

Lunde then took a break of several years and returned to the World Cup in 1982, but could no longer achieve any top placements.

Lunda has a twin sister, Kathy Lunda, who also competed in speed skating.
