Kay Sievers

Kay Sievers is a German programmer and developer of free software in the Linux environment, who is known for the daemons udev for device management and systemd for the system start and for the UEFI bootloader Gummiboot. He also made significant contributions to the hotplug project (for plug and play ).

In 2012, Sievers and Harald Hoyer were the driving force behind the merging of the / lib , / bin and / sbin file system trees into / usr under Fedora . This simplification has been carried out by other distributions such as B. Arch Linux taken over.
