Kay T. Gainacopulus

Kay T. Gainacopulus (* 1939 ) is an American saxophonist, music teacher, arranger and composer.

Gainacopulos studied at Lawrence University , Peabody Conservatory and Indiana University, where he took saxophone lessons with Eugene Rousseau and clarinet lessons with Clark Brody , Ignatius Gennusa , Bernard Portnoy and Searl Pickett . He has taught at the College of St. Teresa , Whitman College and St. Norbert College and is Professor of Clarinet and Saxophone and Director of the Music Merchandising Program at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh .

Gainacopulus was also principal clarinetist with the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra , the Chicago Civic Orchestra and two Army bands. As a composer he was best known for arranging classical works for saxophone orchestra.
