Kaya Han

Kaya Han (* 20th century in Japan ) is a South Korean pianist and music teacher .

Becoming and working

Kaya Han grew up in Japan. From 1978 to 1982 she studied at the Toho Music Academy in Tokyo. Then she was a student of Edith Picht-Axenfeld and Ramon Walter at the University of Music in Freiburg im Breisgau until 1986 . In 1988 she was one of the three best pianists at the 44th Geneva International Music Competition.

She then performed as a solo and concert pianist and chamber musician in many European countries, Canada and East Asia. Among other things, she worked with the clarinetist Eduard Brunner , the violinist Ana Chumachenco , with her former teacher Edith Picht-Axenfeld, the Arditti Quartet and the International Brass Soloists . With the drummer Isao Nakamura she forms the duo conflicts .

In addition to appearances in radio and television productions in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, in Japan , South Korea and Canada , Kaya Han published her first CD with works by Brahms in 1990 , which was followed by another Brahms album in 1994. In the same year she made a recording of Isang Yun's complete pianist works and recorded works by Sergei Prokofjew and Béla Bartók .

She works as a lecturer at the international summer courses for new music in Darmstadt and has been a professor at the State University of Music in Karlsruhe since 1999 .
