Kazuo Nakanishi
Kazuo Nakanishi ( Japanese 中西 一 男 , Nakanishi Kazuo ; * October 4, 1922 ; † September 1, 2003 ) was a yakuza and served from 1985 to 1989 as the leader of the largest group Yamaguchi-gumi .
After Takenaka Masahisa's death , Nakanishi was elected leader of Yamaguchi-gumi in February 1985. However, he did not have the title Kumichō (gang leader). The years of his tenure were marked by the " Yama Ichi War " ( 山 一 戦 争 , Yama-Ichi Sensō ), the worst gang war in Japanese post-war history, during which more than 300 shootings occurred and 25 people died.
In 1989 he gave the leadership of Yamaguchi-gumi to the new Kumicho Yoshinori Watanabe .
