Kebabnorsk

Kebabnorsk ( Kebabnorwegian ) is the name for an Eastern Norwegian youth language with a variety of loan words from immigrant languages.

The name Kebabnorsk came about in the mid-1990s; it refers to a youth language that mixes loan words from Arabic , Persian , Punjabi and various Balkan languages with Norwegian . The name comes from the doner kebab , which is supposed to be symbolic of the immigrant culture. Kebabnorsk is not to be confused with the language of immigrants. Kebabnorsk can be found in eastern Norway, especially in the eastern districts of Oslo .

There is a dictionary of Kebabnorsk by Andreas Eilert Østby . However, the language is not consistently uniform in its spelling.
