Keltie Castle
Keltie Castle is a mansion near the Scottish town of Dunning in the Council Area Perth and Kinross . In 1971 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.
history
From around 1454 the land was owned by the Bonar family . As Lairds , they built a predecessor structure at the site. The current Keltie Castle was built in 1686. It is possible that fragments of a building built around 1600 were integrated into the new structure. In 1692 Keltie went to Clan Drummond and then passed into the hands of the Earl of Airlie by marriage in 1812 . The Drummonds had the building expanded in 1712. In 1833 it was finally sold to Lord Rollo .
description
Keltie Castle is isolated about 1.5 kilometers southwest of Dunning. It is described as a laird's little house. The three-story building has an L-shaped floor plan. A rectangular tower with a towing roof protrudes from the inside corner of the building. The windows on the first floor were installed around 1820. The interior was redesigned around 1920. The entrance door with a Gothic finish and additional windows on the ground floor were added.
