The Kemptweiher is a pond created in 1888 between Winterthur and Kemptthal , which is fed by the Kempt through canals .
history
The Kemptweiher was created in 1888 as a water reservoir for the Steigmühle. The pond was used for this purpose until 1964, when the Steigmühle fell victim to a fire and the mill built two years later was operated electrically again. The pond was then bought by the city of Winterthur and declared a nature reserve. In 2000, as a result of the Waldeggsee initiative, bathing in the Kemptweiher was permitted.
