2006 World Kendo Championship

The 13th World Kendo Championship in 2006 was from Dec. 8 until 10. December 2006 in Taipei , the capital of the Republic of China (Taiwan) is discharged. Several hundred athletes from 44 countries fought for the title. Referee courses and Dan exams also took place in the vicinity of the competitions . A maximum of ten female and ten male athletes were allowed to be registered in each delegation. Each country was allowed to provide a women's and a men's team with five starters for the team competitions. A maximum of four women and four men per country were also entitled to start in the individual competitions. The registration deadline was August 29, 2006.

particularities

For the first time since the 1st Kendo World Championship was held in Tokyo and Osaka in 1970, the 5-man Japanese national team failed to secure 1st place in the "Men's Team" category. Japan lost in a spectacular semi-final against the US national team, which was beaten by the South Korean national team in the final.
