List of districts of Jenas

This list contains the districts of Jenas . Jena , the second largest city in Thuringia , is divided into 30 districts . These include, on the one hand, villages that were incorporated into Jena in large numbers in the 20th century and have partly grown together with the city, but partly are also spatially separated on the plateaus east and west of the Saale valley or in its side valleys. On the other hand, in 2009 the area, which has always belonged to the city of Jena, was also divided into districts, as is the case in most other large cities. However, these Jena districts also received the status of a district according to Section 45 of the Thuringian municipal code. For this reason, local councils and mayors could be elected here for the first time in 2010, which previously only applied to most of the incorporated villages.
