history

The former teaching and research farm in 1971

Friedrich von Würzburg owned the Remderoda estate in 1308 and sold it to the Bürgel monastery . Remderoda was first mentioned in a document on January 12, 1328. At this time Remderoda was a village with 12 farms and a church, the pastor of which was able to cultivate seven Hufen land. The stony soil and weather caused the farmers to give up the farms. In 1539 the estate was in desolation when Elector Johann Friedrich leased it to Konrad Hüttenrauch, a citizen of Jena, who rebuilt it. In 1664 it was owned by a vain Christoph von Spitznasen , after which the property was often called "Spitznasen's Gut".

In 1836 the estate had 10 residents.

The Vorwerk, which had belonged to the Bürgel monastery since 1308 , was also in desolation. The desert was then given in fiefdom. Since then there has been the Hof or Gut Remderoda, which on January 1, 1956 became the teaching and experimental farm of the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena . From January 1, 1970, it was transferred to the University of Leipzig .
