Kenji Isezaki

Kenji Isezaki ( Japanese 伊 勢 﨑 賢治 , Isezaki Kenji ; * July 6, 1957 ) is a Japanese university professor, former development worker and United Nations employee .

Career

Isezaki worked as a development worker in Sierra Leone shortly before the outbreak of the civil war in 1991 , and stayed in this role for a total of ten years. From March 2000 to June 2001 he was in East Timor for the United Nations . He then returned to Sierra Leone for UNAMSIL and worked in the coordination department for GDR (disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration). Isezaki was then also active in Afghanistan in the GDR as a special envoy for the Japanese government. He is now Professor of Peace and Conflict Studies at the Tokyo University for Foreign Studies (TUFS) Isezaki Kenji School of Global Studies and has authored several books. Isezaki is also Vice President of the Association of Aid and Relief Japan, the oldest international non-governmental organization in Japan.

Isezaki received a Master of Engineering degree from Waseda University in 1986 .
