Kennedy Professor of Latin

Kennedy Professor of Latin is the title of Chair in Latin Philology at Cambridge University . It was donated in 1865 by former students and friends of Rector Benjamin Hall Kennedy on his retirement. Kennedy himself contributed £ 500 to the foundation, on the condition that the chair would not be named after him. With the third chair holder, Alfred Edward Housman , the chair was nevertheless named after Kennedy in 1911.
