Kenny Owens

Kenny Owens (* in Arkansas ), also known as Kenny Owen , is an American rockabilly , rock 'n' roll and country musician . Owens was best known in his home state of Arkansas in the 1950s and 1960s.

Life

Owens was born on a farm in Arkansas and grew up as one of eight children in poor circumstances. He came into contact with music as a child and learned to play the guitar at an early age. Although he initially worked in various professions, music always played a role in his life, and in the 1950s he began to try his hand at being a professional musician.

With the triumph of Rock'n'Roll, Owen's first chance for recordings also came. For Lois Krefetz's Poplar label from New York City he recorded his first single I Got the Bug / High School Sweater as Kenny Owen . Frog Man Hop / Come Back Baby followed for Ruth Records , which was later recorded again for Reka Records from Arkansas. Over the next few years, von Owens released other singles, including the Johnny Cash covers Hey, Porter and Ballad of a Teenage Queen . In the 1960s he ran his own label, Ork Records, and was very popular in Arkansas. In Jonesboro , Arkansas, Owens had his own TV show in the late 1960s on KAIT and took in 1970 with Larry Donns band in Wayne Raneys Studio in Concord album Kenny Owens & the Road Travelers with Mid-American Music in that he on his Concerts sold.

To date, Owens' recordings have been re-released many times on compilations, including 1979 for the first time on the German Eagle LP Something Special = Billy and a year later in the Netherlands on the white label LP Rock from Arkansas .
