License plate agreement
The license plate agreement (officially multilateral guarantee agreement between the national insurance offices ) simplified international motor vehicle traffic in Europe. Since the agreement came into force, an international insurance card for motor transport (“green card”) can be dispensed with when traveling to the signatory countries . Despite the agreement, insurers recommend that you carry your international insurance card with you in order to be able to deal more easily with the formalities in the event of an accident.
