License plate agreement

The license plate agreement (officially multilateral guarantee agreement between the national insurance offices ) simplified international motor vehicle traffic in Europe. Since the agreement came into force, an international insurance card for motor transport (“green card”) can be dispensed with when traveling to the signatory countries . As proof of a valid motor vehicle liability insurance that applies license plate country of origin. The agreement is based on the First Motor Vehicle Directive ( Directive 72/166 / EEC ) from 1972.
