Kepler School Observatory Graz
The Kepler school observatory at BRG Kepler (Austria) was planned in the 1990s and implemented as part of a roof extension from 1996. It is equipped with a large dome and several telescopes and is part of a science center at the grammar school.
In addition to access to astronomy , the observatory also offers students the opportunity to acquire optical, electronic and precision engineering skills, and it also organizes public star tours on Monday evenings . The focus is on solar observations , details on the moon and on the large planets , as well as double stars and bright star clusters .
The instrumental equipment includes:
- equatorial mounting on stable concrete column with
- computer-controlled goto mount (Koch FS2)
- Cassegrain reflecting telescope with 12.5 inch (32 cm) mirror 1:15
- Six inch lens telescope from Celestron
- Various eyepieces, filters, binoculars , projection screens, grating spectrograph , PC, laptop, digital cameras
