Kepler parabola

A point mass (e.g. the center of gravity of a comet ) moves on a parabola , the so-called Kepler parabola , if it has just enough kinetic energy when moving around the sun to be able to move as far away as desired. The speed that is necessary to change from a bound orbit to a parabolic orbit is called the second cosmic speed .

The movement of bodies on Kepler parables is described by Kepler's laws .
