The Keppel Islands are an archipelago with a total of 18 islands off the northeast coast of Australia. It is named after Admiral Augustus Keppel, 1st Viscount Keppel . Great Keppel Island is the largest island and has tourism and an airport. Until the large resort closed in 2007, Great Keppel Island was known as a young people and party island.
The islands are considered a good diving spot. Further tourist use is unlikely for ecological reasons.
