France Gareau
France Gareau (born April 15, 1967 in Verner , Ontario ) is a former Canadian athlete who specialized in the 100-meter run .
Gareau celebrated her greatest international success at the age of 17 at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. There, as the final runner of the Canadian team in the 4 x 100 meter relay , she won the silver medal behind the US relay together with Angela Bailey , Marita Payne and Angella Taylor . Gareau also started over 100 m in Los Angeles , but was eliminated in the quarterfinals.
In 1989 she became Canadian champion in the 100-meter run and won a silver medal in the 4-by-100-meter relay at the Jeux de la Francophonie . In the 4-by-400-meter relay she won the bronze medal at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland and the silver medal at the Jeux de la Francophonie in 1994.
France Gareau is 1.67 m tall and weighed 59 kg at competition times. She attended York University in Toronto, is married with two children.
