Kerkythea is a freeware standalone rendering engine that supports ray tracing and global lighting . She works with physically correct materials and lights. The aim of Kerkythea is to simplify the process of quality rendering by combining the necessary tools for automated scene configuration such as render settings editor, material editor and real-time 3D editing under one interface.

history

The development of the Kerkythea application began in September 2004, even if little time was invested in it back then. This was based on the core and the program libraries of Phos, an older rendering engine, so that a large part of the code was already tested and well structured.

A little more than six months later, in April 2005, the first version of Kerkythea was ready. At that time there was only one Windows version, the first Linux version was released in October.

The main developer of the software is Ioannis Pantazopoulos.
