content

The software package offers, among other things, particle systems , plug-ins for realistic physical simulations and character animation, texture baking, lighting according to geographic coordinates as well as time of year and day, polygon objects, blobmeshes / volumes and mathematical surfaces ( NURBS ).

Depending on the program version, the renderers supplied and those published by other manufacturers, complex image calculations are among others with scanline rendering or ray tracing, shadow mapping, diffuse shading, global illumination, multiple reflections and refractions, ray marching, motion blur, depth of field, volume rendering etc. possible. In particular, the possibility of using various CPU and GPU based renderers such as V-Ray, nVidia iRay / mentalray, Arnold Render, Octane, Redshift, Indigo etc. ensured that 3D Studio Max was widely used in private and commercial environments.

3ds Max can be easily expanded with its own plug-ins and has the program's own script language Maxscript.
