Kern County Earthquake

The Kern County earthquake hit Kern County , southern California , on July 21, 1952 .

The quake took place at the rejection of White Wolf Fault . With a magnitude of 7.5 on the moment-magnitude scale , it was the strongest since the Fort Tejon earthquake in 1857 and the Lone Pine earthquake in 1872 . The main quake killed twelve people, injured 18 and caused $ 50 million in damage. Six people also died in Los Angeles .
