Kerryn Phelps (born December 14, 1957 in Sydney ) is an Australian doctor , author and non-party politician .

Life

Her brother is the Australian actor Peter Phelps . Phelps studied medicine at the University of Sydney . She worked as a doctor in Sydney . She was president of the Australian Medical Association . From September 23, 2016 to September 18, 2017, she was Deputy Mayor of Sydney, succeeding Irene Doutney . In October 2018, she won a by-election in Sydney as a member of the Australian Parliament . With this election, the incumbent government of Scott Morrison lost the government majority in the Australian Parliament. She has been married to Jackie Stricker since 2017. She has three children from her first marriage to Michael Fronzek, from whom she divorced in 1993.
