Peter Phelps
Peter Phelps (born September 20, 1960 in Sydney ) is an Australian actor .
Life
Career
Phelps began his career in the early 1980s with supporting roles in the Australian soap operas The Restless Years and Sons and Daughters . He was also seen in several Australian television films and series, so he impersonated the boxer Les Darcy in an episode of Willesee's Australians in 1987 . Also in 1987, he starred in the Australian war drama The Lighthorsemen .
Internationally known made him 1989 the role of the Australian Trevor Cole in the first season of the US television series Baywatch - The Lifeguards of Malibu . In 1990 he had a small supporting role alongside Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves in the action film Dangerous Surf, directed by Kathryn Bigelow .
After leaving Baywatch , Phelps worked again predominantly for Australian television and had, among other things, a supporting role in the series The Flying Doctors . In 1993 he received an AFI Award from the Australian Film Institute as a performer in an episode of the television series GP. His role in the series Stingers , which he played from 1998 to 2004, earned him a Logie Award for Most Popular Actor in 2002 .
From 2005 on, Phelps played the doctor Doug "Spence" Spencer in the television series All Saints .
Private
Phelps has been married to Donna Fowkes since 2000 and the couple have two daughters (born in 2002 and 2005). His sister, Kerryn Phelps, is an eminent Australian medical professional and, among other things, is the past president of the Federal Australian Medical Association (AMA).
