A candle bank is a flat container for smaller candles . These can be lit as sacrificial lights in churches or as light dispensers in private rooms.

Stainless steel or beech wood are often sanded accordingly as the material for making candle banks. The candles are inserted into suitable cavities or placed on the surface built into the bench.

Examples

In 1987 the German metal sculptor, painter and blacksmith Paul Nagel created, among other things, an altar of Mary with a bench for candles in the Church of St. Sophien in Hamburg-Barmbek.

In 2007, Langenthal interior designer Remo Lemp created a long candle bench made of dark metal for the former Sihlcity church in Zurich.
