The former boiler house of the shipyard Henry Koch is as office buildings vice unused industrial monument at the port of Lübeck in the quarter Lübeck-St. Gertrud and is a listed building .

history

The boiler house was built in 1924 to designs by the on industrial and civil engineering specialist Leipziger civil engineer Paul Ranft built and served until the cessation of shipbuilding in 1933 as a power station of Dockyard Henry Koch. The technology and the steam boiler were supplied by Borsig in Berlin. After that, Leicht Konstruktions GmbH , a supplier for aircraft construction to Dornier-Werke , used the building until 1945 . After the Second World War, the paper and cardboard manufacturers Schmalbach-Lubeca and Assiwell Lübeck used the power station until 1982 to supply their production facilities for the manufacture of corrugated cardboard . From 1982 to 2000 the boiler house was not used. Then it was converted by the architect Rosehr into an office building with corresponding office lofts , which are rented to users from the service sector. The elevator system was installed in the former chimney of the boiler house. In 2004 the project was awarded the architecture prize of the Lübeck merchants' association .
