Kevin Mulligan

Kevin Mulligan (born June 23, 1951 in Shifnal , Shropshire , England) is an English - Irish philosopher . Since 1986 he has been Professor of Philosophy at the University of Geneva . He significantly influenced the development of philosophy in Switzerland .

Life

Kevin Mulligan studied in Cambridge and Tübingen. In 1975 he received his doctorate in Manchester with the thesis "Representation and Ontology in Austro-German Philosophy". Since 1986 he has been a full professor at the University of Geneva. He was visiting professor at numerous universities. His students include Eros Corazza, Jerôme Dokic, Christine Tappolet, Benjamin Schnieder and Fabrice Correia. Mulligan is a co-founder of the European Society for Analytical Philosophy (ESAP). He has been a member of the Academia Europaea since 2007 .

Services

Kevin Mulligan works in the fields of epistemology and ontology . His reflections on truth makers (Truthmaker) made him particularly well known . Mulligan, along with his colleagues and friends Barry Smith and Peter Simons, is one of the Anglo-Saxon philosophers who have made a name for themselves in recognizing the Austrian roots of analytical philosophy.
