Khalid Adem

Khalid Adem (* 1975 ) is an Ethiopian immigrant in the USA who was the first person to be convicted of female genital circumcision . He was accused of removing the clitoris of his then two-year-old daughter with scissors in 2001. In 2006 he was sentenced to a total of 15 years, including ten years in prison and five years as suspended sentence. Khalid Adem denied the allegations in court.
