Khalida Messaoudi

Khalida Toumi (born March 13, 1958 in Ain Bessem , Kabylia , also known as Khalida Messaoudi ) is an Algerian feminist and politician .

Life

After working as a math teacher from 1984 to 1991, she became a member of the Conseil consultatif national (CCN) from 1992 to 1993 . From 1997 to 2002 she was a member of the National People's Assembly for the Algiers constituency ; between 2000 and 2001 she was Vice-President of the Commission nationale de réforme du système éducatif (CNRSE).

In the course of her political career, she was a founding member and president of the first association of independent women in May 1985 and a founding member and vice-president of the first Algerian League for Human Rights in March 1985. Since January 1992 she has been a member of VNSA and CCN. From April 1996 to 2001 she was a member of the Secularist Party (RCD), but was expelled in July 2001. In October 1993 she was Vice President of the Movement for the Republic (MPR). Since May 9, 2003 she has been Minister for Communication and Culture of Algeria.
