Khalihenna Ould Errachid (* 1951 in Laâyoune ) is a Moroccan politician and executive president of the Royal Advisory Council on Saharan Affairs, which was founded by King Mohammed VI. was appointed.

Life

Member of an influential family of the Reguibat tribe , Khalihenna Ould Errachid completed his university studies in Madrid before Morocco decided during the Western Sahara conflict to annex the previous colony of Spanish Sahara with the Green March in November 1975 .

Khalihenna Ould Errachid was one of the close associates of King Hassan II in the strategic, political, diplomatic and security preparations for this march. When Spain withdrew from Sahrawi territory in 1975, Khalihenna Ould Errachid took the oath of allegiance to the Moroccan king. He was appointed by the sovereign to defend the ratification of the Madrid Agreement at the United Nations .

Under Hassan II, Khalihenna Ould Errachid was appointed Minister for Saharan Affairs in 1977 and was in the Lamrani III government until 1995 . In 1977 he was elected to Laayoune City MP and a member of the Committee and Executive Office of the National Assembly of Independents (RNI), which he left in early 1981 to participate in the creation of the National Democratic Party (PND).

Khalihenna Ould Errachid has also been President of the Laayoune City Council since 1983. He also directed various diplomatic royal missions to the United Nations, the Organization of Non-Aligned States and the Organization of the African Union. 2000 he was by King Mohammed VI. tasked with participating in the negotiations under the aegis of James Baker in London and Berlin. On March 25, 2006, the Sovereign appointed him President of the Royal Advisory Council on Saharan Affairs (CORCAS).
