Lists on the subject

The Khanjarli is an Indian dagger from the 17th to 19th centuries .

history

The Khandjarli originated in India and is similar to the Khanjar . The main differentiator to the Khanjar is the design of the handle and the shape of the blade.

description

The Khanjarli has a broad, S-shaped, double-curved blade, with either a strong center line, or a relatively wide hollow path (wrongly blood channel) and is about 22 cm long. The total length is about 38 cm. The handle (handle) is relatively short and in most cases has a mushroom-shaped or crescent-shaped knob. It only has a very short cross-guard or guard. Many specimens have a metal handguard that runs from the parrying disc to the pommel. The handle is often set with ivory. The normal scales are made of wood or horn. The equipment ranges from very simple to well-equipped variants. The scabbards are often made of leather or wood and are covered with velvet in different colors. Most blades are made of hardened forged steel, alternatively blades are also made of Indian Wootz steel (cast steel damascene).
