Khaosai Galaxy ( Thai เขา ทราย แก แล็ ค ซี่ ; born May 15, 1959 as Sura Saenkham ( สุ ระ แสน คำ ) in Phetchabun , Thailand ) is a former Thai boxer .

Professional career

The southpaw Khaosai was 1980 pro. He lost his seventh fight for the Thai bantam title on points, it was the only defeat of his career.

In 1984 he won a fight for the vacant WBA world championship in super flyweight. He then successfully defended the title for seven years. In 1987 he beat the IBF title holder , Ellyas Pical, whose belt was not officially at stake. After this defeat, however, Pical was stripped of his title.

In 1988, his twin brother Khaokor Galaxy became the WBA bantamweight title holder.

In addition to Pical, Ring Magazine names Rafael Oroño from Venezuela, David Griman, Israel Contreras and Yong Kang Kim as his most respected opponents. The magazine lists him as the best super flyweight of all time, but the weight class isn't very traditional.

After 19 title defenses, Khaosai resigned in 1991. He had won 17 of 20 title fights by knockout. In 1991 he was inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame .

Others

In addition to his boxing career, Khaosai Galaxy was also successful in Thai boxing and was also world champion in this martial art in the early 80s.
