Khoda Dad Zahir (born July 6, 1985 in Kabul , Afghanistan ) is an Afghan football coach . Most recently, he coached the Afghan national U-23 soccer team .

Career

Zahir, who grew up in Afghanistan, was appointed the new coach of the Afghan U-23 national team in September 2014, succeeding Elyas Manochehr , who coached the team at the 2010 South Asian Games . With the national team, Zahir took part in the Asian Games in 2014 , where they were eliminated after the group stage after three defeats against Bangladesh (0: 1), Hong Kong (1: 2) and Uzbekistan (0: 5).

Due to the poor performance of the team, Zahir was dismissed as a coach in March 2015. His successor was the Iranian Hosein Saleh .
