Khorat Thai

The Khorat Thai are an ethnic group in the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .

population

The Khorat Thai number a little more than 520,000 members (1984: more than 400,000). The largest group of Khorat Thai lives in the province of Nakhon Ratchasima .

language

The language of Khorat Thai is regarded as a dialect of Thai , which lies between the standard language and Isan - Lao .

history

The Khorat Thai are closely related to the Thai . According to one theory, they are descendants of Siamese soldiers and Khmer women.
