The Khudoni Dam ( Georgian ხუდონის ჰიდროელექტროსადგური [ხუდონჰესი] khudonis hidroelektrosadguri khudonhesi ) is a planned but not yet carried out hydropower project on the Enguri in Upper Svaneti , Georgia . The site is 32 km above the existing Enguri dam .

The Khudoni hydropower plant originally had 10 turbines with a nominal output of 74  MW each , resulting in a total output of 740 MW. A 200 m high concrete arch weight wall was initially planned as a dam structure , recently 170 m. The downsizing of the project also requires the reduction to 638 to 650 MW power plant output. The reservoir will have a volume of 230 million cubic meters and an area of 4 km² (instead of 5.2 km²).

The planning for the construction of the dam began in 1979, the first construction work in 1986, but ended in June 1989 after protests for environmental reasons and because of the risk of earthquakes. In 2005/2006 the Georgian government started looking for investors to continue the project. According to a study by the government and the World Bank, the construction of the Namachwani , Paravani and Khudoni hydropower plants are the most attractive projects for Georgia's development in the energy sector. If the entire Enguri were expanded with hydropower plants, more than all of Georgia could be supplied with electricity. The World Bank regards the impact of the dam on the microclimate as "very local".

The reservoir would flood the village of Khaishi and require resettlement of the residents.
