Kian Golpira Ghassem-Abadi (born August 12, 1992 in Starnberg ) is a German kickboxer. He is a member of the federal management team of the WAKO -Deutschland e. V. and since 2010 professional.

Life

Kian Golpira Ghassem-Abadi is the son of an Iranian father and a German mother. As the second of three brothers, he was the first to devote himself to martial arts at the age of nine, before encouraging his brothers to do kickboxing over the years. In 2011, Kian passed his Abitur at the municipal Käthe-Kollwitz-Gymnasium in Munich, including in sports. In autumn 2011 he began studying sports science at the Technical University in Munich.

Amateur career

At the beginning of November 2005, Kian Golpira Ghassem-Abadi competed in his first competition at a youth tournament in Burghausen. In 2007 he was able to qualify for the German championships for the first time, where he finished 2nd. In the following year he was able to secure the title of German champion for the first time and also made his debut in the youth national team at the youth and junior world championships of the WAKO world association in Naples. He occupied the light contact weight class “older cadets –57 kg”, but there was no placement. In 2009 he fought at the Junior European Championships of the world association WAKO in Pula, where he took 3rd place in the full contact weight class up to 63.5 kg. In 2010 he tried his hand at the Junior World Championships of the world association WAKO in Belgrade, one weight class lower, -60 kg, and was also able to secure 3rd place. From 2012 Kian Golpira Ghassem-Abadi was one of the "men" and was able to continue his successful kickboxing career without any teething problems. At the age of 18, he won the Austrian Classics World Cup in Innsbruck, in full contact - 60 kg. He was able to repeat this success a year later in the light welterweight division, -63.5 kg. Also in 2011 he recommended himself for the national team. So he represented the German colors in the light contact -63 kg at the world championship of the world association WAKO in Skopje and also brought a bronze medal to Germany. At the 2011 World Championships of the WAKO World Federation in Dublin, where the title was fought out in full contact, he failed in the quarter-finals against the eventual world champion -60 kg, Ali Aday from Jordan. In 2012 he was nominated by WAKO Germany for the European Championships of the World Association WAKO, which will take place in Bucharest, in the weight class full contact –63.5 kg. After further nominations for the 2013 World Cup in Antalya and the 2014 European Championship in Bilbao, where he won bronze, Kian was able to achieve the title of world champion - 63.5 kg in 2015 in Dublin.

Professional career

In 2010, Kian Golpira Ghassem-Abadi won the German WAKO Pro title in full contact kickboxing -62.3 kg against Markus Weisse from Merseburg with a win in the 6th round in a 7-round fight. In the same year he had to defend this title against the Ingolstadt kickboxer Johann Kun in Ingolstadt. He achieved this with a draw after 7 rounds by point decision. In a later prestige fight, in 2012, he defeated Johann Kun after 5 rounds clearly on points. Shortly before his 18th birthday, also in 2010, Kian Golpira Ghassem-Abadi got the opportunity to fight for the vacant intercontinental title -64.5 kg of the WAKO Pro in Anzio (Italy). He lost the fight against Andrea Paragallo from Italy in the 4th round when the doctor dropped out because of a cut under his left eye. At the end of 2013 Kian fought against Dieter Lecleurq in France for the "Ceinture mondiale" in the -66.8 kg weight class and had to admit defeat on points after 10 rounds.

Boxing career

Kian Golpira Ghassem-Abadi's boxing career began in 2009. To date, Kian Golpira has contested 50 boxing matches, including one in the Bundesliga.
